Vilnius was definitely different 200 years ago, but just like always, it was inhabited by adults and children who were a lot like us. During the educational workshop, we will go 200 years back in time to get a little taste of what childhood was like back then. Listening to the educators telling stories that happened to children two centuries ago, we will unwittingly find ourselves in the 19th century city. We’ll see that 200 years ago, children also played a lot and had fun. And we’ll definitely try out the old games ourselves!

VILNOPOLIS: Build Your Own City. An educational workshop
Build your own Vilnius from the bricks of the past!
Participants will be introduced to the unique model depicting Vilnius in the 19th century on exhibition in the Vilnius 200 Years Ago pavilion. Together with educators, young urbanists will consider what influence the decisions of the tsarist Russian government had on the change of the city, and what kind of city we would be living in today if history had taken a different course. Playing an original board game in groups, schoolchildren will try to imagine what kind of Vilnius they would build if the fate of the city was in their hands. After overcoming the challenges of erecting a city, the teams will build the Vilnius of their dreams. Only, is Vilnius the same in everyone’s dreams?
