During its 16 years in the city of Vilnius, which is celebrating its 700th anniversary, the Vilnius Short Film Festival has become the largest and most important festival of its kind in Lithuania. As every year, the festival opened the season of cinema events with the slogan “Short, yet films” and offered a dozen different film programmes for audiences of all ages and interests.  The repertoire included approximately 80 short films that have been acknowledged by critics and appreciated by viewers, which reflect the latest trends in cinema, address contemporary issues, and reveal the diversity of the genre, innovation and openness to experimentation. Eitvydas Doškus’s short film Once Upon a Vilnius will be shown as Part II of the National Competition Programme.
